They've said it, never fight the nature

Assalamualaikum. Allahu, this is so sad, and heartbreaking.

It is now the northeast monsoon season here in Terengganu. Our university is right beside the beach, facing the south china sea. I've wrote few entries about our uni's beach that has slowly vanished while we can't do anything, with us watching it right in front of our eyes. In front of my eyes..

Allahuakbar my heart is suffocated, I cannot accept what's happening to the place that we've been all these while is disappearing. I can't explain nor portrays how hurt my heart is seeing the place where I came to collect water sample during my first semester, place where we came to walk by by the edge, place where we marine biology student comes the most. And the latest, place where we plant our Rhizophora mucronata's propagules, and observed the growth every weeks. Those youngs had just learnt to live, with help, and yet it is washed away just like that. I have always imagining one day of coming here proudly to see those propagules that we planted have grown big and strong enough to aid the other mangrove trees to protect the coastlines from erosive wave action, which occurring currently.

Around November 2013

End of April 2014 

The sand was carried away by the waves eventually the bottom become steep and the water waves break only when it reach the shore, which erodes the latter. It was a gentle sloping bottom (sedikit landai) that helps to break the waves slowly before it reach the shore.

Mid of September 2014

Note the poles? Those are actually the windmill. During monsoon they spin so fast and sounded like helicopter. Note the red boxy things in front of the houses? That is UMT Evo Wave Power (UEWP) that produced by our School of Ocean Engineering. It was made to generate electricity from the waves.

Mid of October 2014

This is the bridge to UMT beach. Under the bridge is where we plant our propagules (the small stick in the water) for mangrove and estuarine ecology subject. We were supposed to go down and take the measurement of our propagules but it was high tide and the water aren't moving (air pasang mati)

20th November 2014

Here's video by INOS. The water flowed so fast and strong it disrupted everything. The houses, the windmills, my propagules, all are gone. Allahuakbar.

We need them more than they need us. Extension of the airport runway will attract more tourists eh?
